People sometimes confused how to choose the best airlines when they want to get on board. How about you? Do you feel it as well? Have you been on board with full service airlines? How did you feel? Was it comfortable? Did you like it? But you spent much money and it was expensive, right? But let see other type of airlines, it has the other possibilities. Have you got the cheapest price or promo fare? And you were probably glad because you can reach some place with low cost. But have you lost your flight ticket because you came late to the check-in counter? And you were seriously worried with your itinerary. Yes, now I would like to share my experiences when I lost my tickets and I felt really worried and sad, because I had to spend a lot money to buy the new tickets. There was a couple stupid things that I did, I have prepared for my trip actually but I had a case on my way when I was going to the airport, traffic! And sure we could predict it right? The consequently, I lost my ticket because my ticket didn’t give back anything, either refund or reschedule ticket or time to get onboard. The couple ticket that I had were the LCC or people say Low Cost Carrier airlines. So, now I would like to compare two kinds of airlines, there are full service airline and LLC airlines before I decide what the best one for me or probably for you as well. Even thought both of them have a few the similarities each other that you have to consider as well, they actually the same air transportation right? Which means we can reach our destination fast. Beside that, they have a same service about hand carry on bag up to 7 Kg.
The first thing that I consider if I want to choose is price, may be you as well. Full service airline has very high cost or expensive, you can see some airlines such as Singapore Airlines, Malaysian Airlines, KLM Royal Dutch, Lufthansa, American Airlines, Airasiana Airlines, Korean Airlines, moreover you may get the full service airlines with the good price such as Emirates Airlines, Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways. There are actually some full service airlines that give good price, not too expensive but mostly the Middle East airlines have long transit. For Emirates airlines, we have to transit in Dubai. Qatar Airways, we have to transit in Dhoha. Etihad Airways, we have to transit in Abu Dhabi. It takes time absolutely. Don’t be worried, for the student who love backpacking and traveling with minimum cost, we can get the LCC airlines with low cost and some time we can get very cheap price, such as AirAsia, Tiger Airways, JetStar Airlines, Lion Airlines, AirTran airways, Spirit Airlines, South Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Aer Arann, Air Baltic, Air Berlin, ArkeFly, and many other LCC. We can choose and consider the best one depend on our budget and what we need.
In addition to the price, we also have to consider the service. Probably people directly decide, yes I choose the cheap one, or the cheapest one. But wait, you have to see first, what you will get from the price that you pay for your trip. Actually full service airlines, we can analyze from the name full service, which means it has very good services for you during on board. They (Aircrew) will give you very good service and all of the services are free for you already include on the ticket price. You will get some services from the full service airlines, they are free food moreover you can choose some kind of food, free magazine and its complement, free blanket and you can bring out the blanket if you want, you also can use earphones and enjoy some movies, games, music, and entertainment that they provide for you, you also will get the pillow that you can feel comfortable sleeping without muscles when you wake up. But you will never get anything during on board with the LCC airlines, probably some of the airlines will give you only 50ml water but mostly no and nothing. You have to pay again for food and blanket. There are no movie, no entertainment, no music, no drink juice and other drink you want, you have to pay again or you bring all the items by your self!
Time, you also have to consider about the time. It’s the most important thing on your trip. You don’t want to lose your time, especially on business situation and want to meet with the client, right? The problem is so many LCC airlines always take off and landing late and it absolutely takes our time. We have to wait for the time, but the other side we lose our important time. Full service airlines really seldom find the situation like that, most of full service airlines always come on time, take off and landing on time as well. So, we trust our time and we don’t have to think much about out time. It means we have very good trust to the full service airlines than LCC airlines.
If we compare two things, we will find the best and the bad things on both. Actually the LCC Airlines have very good promo fare, sometimes I get the best promo from the LCC airlines especially for backpacking. I got Indonesia - Singapore return only USD 40 by AirAsia. That was fantastic right? The other things, if there is a special date like 10.10.10 means October 10, 2010 they gave very great promo. Friends of mine got Indonesia – Malaysia return only USD 20, it was amazing. People spend USD 20 only for food, but other people can spend USD 20 for traveling. Perfect!
Besides that, we have to consider the routes of the airlines. Why? because some of the LCC airlines only has a few routes, that means it doesn’t have so many routes likes full service airlines. It is one thing that we have to know as well, the routes . While the full service airlines have many routes all the world, the LCC only has a few routes. For example, Singapore Airlines as a full service airlines, it has many routes not only in Asia but also all the world. Tiger airways as LCC airlines, it only has few routes and all the destination in Asia countries must be from or to Singapore. Although Singapore Airlines and Tiger airways are the same original country, both of them are Singapore’s airlines, but there are different kind airlines. Because the LCC only has few routes, we can’t choose the routes that we needed and wanted. We have to choose the available routes of the airlines. If it doesn’t have the routes that we wanted, we can’t use the airlines. On the other hand the full service can give as many choices of the routes. So, what do you prefer? For me, it depends on the destination that I need. For me, it depends on the destination that I need.
The last but not the least, this part also important when you consider to choose one kind of the airlines. This is the quality of aircrew that you have to think first before you decide one of the best for you. Full service airlines have very good quality of aircrew, not only quality aircrew during on board but also the whole things such as quality of the pilot and co. pilot who the first responsible all the flight. The quality of the pilot and co. pilot influences to our trip during on board, taking off, and landing. Full service airlines have very smooth landing and taking off. However, sometimes the LCC airlines have very rough landing and taking off.
In conclusion after taking some consideration and compare between two airlines with some reason, I would like to say that I prefer to choose full service airlines if I have flight with the long haul more than five hours and I choose LCC airlines if have flight less than five hours, which means short distance. Because, if I have long haul on board it must be very long and tired during the trip, so I need some services from the airlines such as food, blanket and pillow for sleeping, earphones for hear the music, movie, and entertainment. I’m sure long haul trip makes you feel very bored and I have to do something besides sleeping. If I use LCC airlines which are no service during on board, it must be very uncomfortable. I prefer spend some money but I feel comfortable on my trip, moreover I will not get bad mood when I landed at the airport after long haul. I will choose LCC airlines only for short distance because it cheaper, has good promo, even though it doesn’t have services. I would say it’s really appropriate for the student and backpacker like me. Because some things that I need during short trip with LCC airlines, I can bring from home. It is my choice, how about you?
